JAnome 7300 users?

A year ago I traded in my 1967 Singer Touch and Sew (still regretting it) for a Janome 7300. I've spent the last year + ripping out stitches and cursing this machine. I've been sewing for 50'years so I'm not new to this. I have the worst time with knits and spandex. I Sew mainly doll clothes so the work is small and sometimes tedious. I have been experimenting with the stitches but have not found one that I love for stretchy fabrics. Can anyone make any suggestions? I am at the point of considering a different machine but hate to start all over AGAIN. THE STRETCH STITCHES BUILT INTO THE MACHINE ARE AN OVERKILL FOR DOLL CLOTHES. And a zigzag stitch doesn't look good from the right side of the seam, to me. HELP?
