I'm trying to figure out the capacity of a skid steer bucket and I'm guessing 5 to 7 1/2 yards....that is a lot of Manure !!! :o)

Thank goodness there is no more smell Any wonder why my back hurts today. The edges were not too bad to place but then had to handle it all twice to load first in the wheel barrow and then place it. I use dust pan because the handle of the shovel gets into the road of the plants. They never got much before for fertilizer except a bit of liquid kelp last year to help with the clay soil or is that just called dirt? Water seems to be the important part of my growth in gardens and possibly good luck. Hopefully does not attract the slugs. Jon,I would think you are right about the yardage in the bucket. There is a large dairy farm that just charges to deliver in a huge truck that holds 32 yards at a time for $200 so this should last me for many years They put the liquids on their fields and this is the stuff from their settling ponds and it is a mixture of that and sand. It has been in the pile for two years now and is nice and black

GORGEOUS hostas, as usual! I bet that's good stuff you put on them and it looks so nice in between all your plants....It's smart to take a day off when you need to. I carry mulch up my hill bucket by bucket, so I've learned that lesson.

Sandyslopes as far as taking the day off, I never listen even to myself. ha ha, I got my husband to load some dry stuff and was not near as hard on the back for these last 6 skid steer buckets. He loaded me another trailer load but by then was time for a rest. Got it all watered and the topping. looks so great wet. I can well imagine how much work to carry in a bucket up hill . Jon, Murray said it probably is only about a 1/3 yard bucket and get three in a little trailer I have behind the quad.

It's not a wonder your back is sore! That's a lot of area to cover. But looks like your work is paying off and that's what counts!
