the pink is a bit much, not impossible though. try some more scatter cushions in orange
then try large, bold lamps in black, and keep the walls bright (off white as it appears currently)
can we have more photos of the space? flooring, window covering, lighting, opposite walls, other furniture, size, etc
if you have space, a black chair could work with the lamps. Then a thin black framed orange-ish art piece as well
is there any way to raise the headboard

I would start with painting the walls a subtle blue-gray tone, adding more neutral bedding, placing table lamps on the nightstands, and adding a cozy area rug. I've included a few inspiration photos below!

All are great suggestions. Thank you. I'm willing to change the bedding and lamps. The colour on the walls is pale yellow although it might appear cream. Here are couple of other pictures of the room.

I love the bedding -- makes me feel welcome already! a pure white or a cream (or even a sunny pale yellow) would all look great with it. oh! it's already yellow! then I'd keep that.

I'd love to have lamps high enough to really read by, although maybe your taller nightstands help make up. Definitely need art over the headboard, though -- looking a little empty right now!

The bedding is fun, rather teen-ish though for guests. I'm a little thrown by the fact that the nightstands are the same height as the headboard. In general, nightstands should arrive at mattress top height. Do you have a box spring under the mattress? I'm thinking I would just get a Hollywood bed frame, lifting it with bed risers so the mattress and nightstands are at the same level. Add a fabric headboard. Then get a spread that drops to the floor. Hang a mirror above each nightstand and get taller lamps for each side. Add a rug under the bottom 1/3 of the bed. How about a luggage rack or bench at the foot of the bed? Is there a chair for guests?

This was a bunk bed which we took apart. The bed has build it railing so no need for the box spring. The room is very small so putting a bench at the end of the bed isn't an option as there simply isn't any room.

Yes, its pretty evident that isn't a real bed. Better to do without it. Craig's List can be your friend both for selling it and finding a replacement.

I agree with decoenthusiate, the bedding is a bit teenish, so put a blue throw at the end of the bed to help break up the pattern.............Along with a blue pillow.

If you want to keep the bedding.....Get white sheets, pillowcases and matelasse coverlet. Fold the comforter down to about of third, prop up the pillows and place your pink shams in front. Get a big piece of art (something like acm posted). Also - wall-mounted lamps. Oh, and paint the room a simple off white. If you're not married to the bedding, sky's the limit. Find something you love and base everything off of that. I'm in the midst of re-doing our guest room (formerly our son's bedroom). After years of color, I went with cream. Bedding will be white matelasse with a pale blue/green toile duvet.

I agree that the bedding is a bit too bright for a guest room. I like to try to make my guest rooms a bit more serene. I would consider a 5" boxspring to raise the height of the bed a bit. I would also definitely add larger lamps for reading and an area rug to slip under the bottom 1/3 of the bed. A 5 x 8 should do the trick. Mirrors behind the lamps as suggested and some art over the bed. I would also consider painting the dresser and changing out the knobs. I think this bedding would look lovely with the color on your walls.
