Help choosing Range

last modified: 9 years ago

I had accidentally posted to Design Dilemma forum. Meant to post here. I've been searching for a 30 inch range to replace by 15 year old dual fuel Dacor that succumbed to a power surge (hydro company's fault). I'm looking for a somewhat higher end range and hoping to get dual fuel so as not to have to re-run electrical, etc. I've looked at Wolf, Dacor, Thermador, DCS, Bertazzoni. Also was quite interested in the Bluestar RCS line even though it's all gas and would also have to get some rewiring work done to change voltage. But it's also lower priced. The closed What I've noticed is that many now have a black porcelain cooktop rather than stainless which I don't really like. My Dacor is all stainless and is easy to clean, doesn't scratch and still looks great. Due to this, it really narrows my choices to the DCS. Bluestar (open burner only since sealed burner also has porcelain cooktop) and Bertazzoni. The Berta is beautiful but seems to be more about the looks. The Bluestar is not that nice looking but looks very functional. The DCS seems to hit the middle. I'm not a chef but I do love cooking. I don't bake all that much but do use the oven for roasting, etc. Any feedback on these three or perhaps something else I haven't considered would be appreciated. I've read a lot on this forum but still confused...
