Yes, they will grow more. Much more if they survive. How do they look otherwise? I'd pull those tomatoes off. That way energy that would be used to grow the tomatoes can go into making the plant itself healthier.

Yellow pear is a cherry. I would personally just leave the fruit on. Cherry plants are pretty vigorous, their fruits don't tax the plant as much as a larger beefsteak type, and they easily multitask as long as you give them good conditions.

But taking it off is by no means a bad decision or bad advice. It's only one fruit. Opinions usually split pretty evenly on a question like this, and I think that's because it doesn't make that much of a difference either way.

I tinker a bit. For no particular reason I took some tomato cuttings before frost last year rooted,and maintained until spring. Upon moving hem outside they almost immediately produced a few small fruit and then sort of went into an unexciting, nothing much happening stage.

Yeah, my experience is that tomato plants will quite easily shunt energy away from fruit when it's not convenient for the rest of the plant. Sometimes the fruit sits there and never does anything and eventually aborts. Sometimes the fruit sits there not doing anything and then suddenly continues developing at a later time. I leave it up to the plant, although I doubt I'd be harming anything if I made an executive decision the other way.

If the plant really looks like it's on the verge of death and you're really just throwing a hail Mary in the hopes that you can miraculously turn it around, then I'd probably remove the fruit. Not sure it would help, but it would at least make me feel like I was trying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I went ahead and removed them. Now I'm just waiting to see what happens. On the brought side, some of the other ones the store said were dying have greened up nicely since being put in the ground with fertilizer added.

i always remove them, including any blossoms until the plants is around 2 ft tall. i do the same with other plants, such as peppers (to around 18").. anything that an 8 inch plant produce will not amount to anything, so no point in having the plant support "dead weight".
they will come back with a little tlc.. tomatoes have pretty extreme recovering abilities when conditions turn in the right direction.
