Whoa! How long have they been growing???

Volunteers, yes! I have three hip high Elegans volunteers, and two knee high Elegans volunteers in my garden. Nothing like big, slug free and free plants.

Well, when you have a lot of hostas, you end up with literally thousands of seeds blowing around in the fall. And a lot of them grow. I don't even notice them sometimes until they are getting big. Some I think are fine so I let them grow. From now on, I plan to dig up five volunteers every time I plant a hosta.

They even grow in the patio. Three here.

This tiny thing actually looks kinda cool. Right in front of a Love Pat and I can already tell it's gold and cupped.

All of these are volunteers. That dirt on the right is part of the area where I dug up the volunteers lying on the ground. Getting ready to plant a nice yellow On Stage OP in that spot. What to do with the others? That's not entirely clear yet. The nearest to the pending On Stage is bluish, so that might be a nice contrast.All of these except Goodness Gracious are volunteers and one is taller than Goodness Gracious, which is getting pretty big itself. That taller volunteer has a cool leaf shape, but it's got to go.
