My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
My early tomatoes are getting black worm holes in them. The interwebs tell me that this is tomato fruit worms. Can I treat with BT? Anyone have experience with these devils?
They are evil. You can spray the fruit with BT, but since they burrow into the fruit they do damage before they ingest the BT. These are the same critters as corn earworms. Don't grow corn near tomatoes. Look for white eggs on leaves near blooms.
I do get these. I do spray with BT. I don't know how well it works. It makes me feel better. It doesn't kill the beneficials. DE might kill them, but it kills other things. Wonder about Kaolin clay? Not mentioned in the article. I have a container of Bugright. It says it kills caterpillars. But, once again, it kills lots of other things, too. I save it for a last ditch effort against spider mites indoors.
A robin plucked a green caterpillar out of the grass today. I cheered her on, but I always wonder if they are after fruitworm when they peck tomatoes.
Thanks Amy, much appreciated. I will give the BT a try. I notice they are just on the plants in front that I store purchased. My started seedlings in back look ok for now anyway.
