Paint Color. Whites. Help please!

I'm looking for a nice, glowy, warm white. I'd say creamy, but I don't want actual cream.
Maybe vanilla is a good word.

I've looked at SO MANY colors. I'm even about to pay the $20 for the restoration hardware fan deck, which kills my soul a bit, because I haven't found the right color.
I want the white for the whole house. No grey tones (too shadowy), no green (there's enough green from the outside light), no cool tones, no pink.
I've searched BM Mayonnaise but I think it's just too yellow and too dated for this house. And I'm not sure I'd love it on trim and ceilings, and I don't like the look of it with white trim.
Is there a lighter version of Mayonnaise anywhere?
It also needs to work in a bathroom that has white tile in the shower and will have white and black hex tile on the floor.
Is there something that's glowy like Mayonnaise but halfway between that and a truer white??

*Picture just for attention, it isn't mine.*

Remember when you are dealing with whites or any very light color, what you see on a small color card and what you will see on the walls/ceiling in specific locations of your house may differ dramatically. Further, the color will change over the course of the day as the sun makes its arc overhead.and sunlight enters your rooms in varying amounts and color tints.

The only way I have found to be sure a very light color will appears as I wish in any particular location in a house is to get sample quarts of the paint in the color candidates chosen and apply them over reasonably large areas in various locations in the house. I would look at them in daylight and under artificial light.

As a general guideline, I suggest you make sure you are happy with the color as it looks in corners and other dark areas. It will likely look on the cool side in these locations. If it is acceptable there, it probably will be acceptable in brighter locations even though any hint of a color hue in it will be largely lost.

(Before buying small quantities of paint, you might try pinning up color cards on your wall next to one another to most easily narrow the field of acceptable colors.)

    Good luck!

I am currently painting my whole house BM Mayonnaise and love it but BM Mascarpone was a tad whiter and nice too. Another contender was BM Capitol White from the Williamsburg collection.

    Hi, everyone!
I appreciate the help SO much!

So. Restoration Hardware paints. I have several pieces of their furniture so I'm hoping their colors are perfect, since I haven't found it yet. I was mostly looking at their The Right White. But I'll look at all the whites and creams. Also, I'll look at their safe and green collections for kitchen cabinets. I gave in and ordered the fandeck, waiting on that. But I don't find much info on their colors online.

BM Creamy. I like this color but there's a hint of shadow to it that I'm trying to avoid.

Cloud White seems a bit too grey and cool to me too. Though I see photos of it and it looks gorgeous.

Simply White was a strong contender. I suppose it still is. But it doesn't return any light like I want it to. I have a sample size of it I've painted in some places.

Alabaster I don't think I have a chip for! I'll have to look it up. Is there any grey in it?

This is the same with Mascarpone and Capitol White. Though, I thought I had those cards somewhere. There's SO MANY paint chips in my house haha.

And ultra white. Isn't that a bit too white? I'm also trying to avoid the "unfinished" white look. Like too stark of a white, drywall putty white.
For Behr. I really want to love their Night Blooming Jasmine. But I have it on a card and a poster and it's creamy. I put it in a wall and it's blinding, pure white (but it glows and returns light, which is nice).

But yes. I looked through cards multiple times. Mostly for undertones. And then I bought a bunch of samples and painted large poster boards to move around. I also went rogue and paint some walls. I'm having a hard time finding ones that look good in shadows. In light they look much better.

I don't feel like I'll find quite what I want so hopefully I just make a decision soon haha. I get that I'm being a bit picky. I just figure what I'm looking for has to exist somewhere! (Mostly, a lighter version of Mayonnaise with no grey/shadow/cool tones to it.)

Have you looked at BM Navajo White? It appears lighter than mayonnaise, but creamy and not a stark white.

    H D,

I do love the look of Navajo White in the photo you posted! I've seen it look great in a lot of pictures. So, I grabbed a sample and I painted a spot on the wall. Haha oh my goodness it came out this rather awful dirty, beige, flat, light absorbing color. I once read a review of it being a nicotine white, and that made me cringe but I didn't get that at all from the chip. Definitely did on the wall haha! But Mayonnaise is significantly lighter and brighter and less tinted of a color. But still just a touch too colored/yellow for what I want. So, I'm still looking haha.

That's good to know about the Navajo White. I almost painted my kitchen that color because it looked so pretty and bright on the chip. I ended up with a darker white. It gets so frustrating trying to find the right color. Good luck!

What you're looking for sounds similar to what I wanted in one of my rooms for which I selected BM Bare. Not sure if that's too much color for you, but might point you in the right direction at least.

I used SW Westhighland White for my trim and kitchen cabinets, and I LOVE it.

I'm soooo interested in which color you ACTUALLY went with? I'm in the same dang sinking boat as you are. I hate white, so my white cant be stark or yellow or gray or green... and I'm sick about it. PLEASE let me know what you went with.
I'm thinking Early evening in the walls and shark on the cabinets....or toasty grey behr

I love Behr's Night Blooming Jasmine - I used it in my entire house including trim. It's very good for spaces that don't get a lot of natural light (like my entire house). It looks good with standard white trim, warm woods, and LOVE it against black. I wanted black and white, but also didn't want an unfinished white look and nothing gray. After bringing home many whites, I couldn't be happier with this one. I chose eggshell finish.
