My dream queen died, but my dream weaver is doing well in half sun. It just seems to hold water and get lumpy without sun exposure.

Wishing. You good luck. I tried 5 times. They never lasted more than 3 years for me, starting out with a 1 gal. can. But more than one hossta has performed that same away for me. I may give up after seeing the fantastic monsters in spectacular settings here on the forum when my limit is a 3 gal. pot. Weenies.

Good luck, I hope it grows well for you! My color festival is new but seems to be doing well, so it must be fairly tough considering I left it in a pot all winter and it dried out several times.

It's certainly not a giant this year but it's alive. :)

Good luck Sherry! You have had many successes and Dream Queen was a test run for GE. You will be the boss of it!

I lost my first GE, but had plbanted it in a poor site. The second time I was much more careful and backfilled the planting hole with lots of lovely leaf mold. That was nine years ago and GE has thrived and is one of the focal points in a bed of hosta.

The hosta receives morning sun and shade in the afternoon.

Since your picture shows GE in flower now, I suspect it has been raised in a greenhouse and force fed. You will probably need to pamper it at the beginning to wean it from its hothouse environment.

I'd cut the flower off. It may stimulate root growth.

I've always heard that GE does better in a pot, that being said I bought a new

one last year but I put it in the ground. (Some of us never learn!)

Luck you ask for, luck you get, Sherry from all of us! I agree, give it sun! The most ideal is morning sun, afternoon shade but we all aren't that lucky to have scads of room in that ideal siting...me included. My smaller one gets plenty of sun and has never burned...it may have a lighter center but that's about it - it is good!

Enjoy them both, Sherrygirl! - they will both benefit from sunshine because of the light centres. Be the boss of them, as Laurie says, lol. Gotta love that.."you ain't the boss of me"... "oh yes, I am" says Sherry!
