My reward

last modified: 9 years ago

This is my reward for recuperating from rotator cuff surgery. :) His name is Nigel. He's a 6-speed manual with a sunroof and kick-a$$ Harmon-Kardon sound system. :) We got him a couple of weeks ago, and he's SO fun! It'll take me a year to learn all the settings and such.

(My DH says it's my mid life crisis car LOL.)

Yay! I love my stick shift in my Mustang 5.0L. My Outback, though a nice car and at least I have the V6, is about as exciting as driving an appliance.

As an SF Giants fan, I adore the colors.

What a cute car...have fun! I never mastered a stick shift...it always felt like work to me.....so I admire those who can manage it, especially in stop and go traffic!

    Nigel? Is he a Mini-Cooper?

He does look fun, sporty and ummm, nimble.

Yes, little bug, it's a Mini Cooper. :). I've wanted one for years and DH finally relented.

Very, very cool!! I'm another standard transmission lover. I have no idea what to do with my left foot and right hand if driving an automatic. Congrats!

Congrats on your new baby, Donna! I love the Minis! Love the color combo you chose too. I have a two-toned little car myself (not a Mini), and think they're such fun!

    Cute!

Dh's midlife crisis (last year) was a Jeep Wrangler - also stick shift. He's never gotten over that he had to sell his 20 yr old jeep back in his youth. Fortunately, he lets me drive it too. Bonus is that our two teenagers can't drive it unless they are willing to learn to drive a manual. So far, dd has not expressed enough interest, but ds has already gotten a few lessons.

Enjoy Nigel - he looks like fun!

    Some additions for Nigel:

    Tear Drop camper

Trailer Hitch - For when you have to run by the garden center:-)

Other caravans for the mini cooper

    Happy motoring!!

LOL, a joke DF surgeon said to another, "Why'd you do that procedure, need a new car?"

Interesting twist, applying it to the patient. Enjoy!

Funny, mdln! Homepro, I've been joking with DH asking if we could tow a Craig Cat with the Cooper. Years ago a friend of mine bought a Mazda Miata and discovered they made a 7-piece luggage set designed to fit into its trunk. :)

    msmeow,

I always wanted a JCW mini. Alas, i can only have one car and it is going to be a Model 3. I curse BMW everyday for discontinuing the Mini Electric car program (MiniE).

Have fun with the manual transmission. I drove a stick until about 8years ago and loved it. I would commit Road Rage incidents if I had to drive a stick here in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area. I am ready to commit Road Rage incidents without a stick shift!!!

    What a cute car!

You know, I loathe camping, but I think the Cowley teardrop is just adorable:

    Lovely car!!

How is the headroom in a mini-Cooper?

    Congrats Msmeow!

Gsciencechick - Had to laugh, one if my best friends recently traded her Mini for an Outback. I loved her mini, I was a bit sad, but her Outback had more room for her outdoor toys. She swears she loves the Outback, but your response does make me wonder.

Homepro, my sister lives in DC. We almost always ride Metro when we are there, but we have driven a few times (we have friends in Richmond). I can see where you could be prone to road rage!

Artemis, everyone tells me how roomy Minis are. I'm short so don't notice headroom! My DH's coworker is at least 6'4" and he was amazed how comfortable it was when he sat in it.

Writersblock, I loathe camping, too, but the camper sure looks cute with the Mini! My DH's parents had a camper with their VW Beetle when he was a kid. The family of 5 went on long camping trips in the summer with that thing. DH lived in it for a while as an adult when he was working at the Methodist Youth Camp.

    Donna,

I think I have more road rage in DC than I have in New York City which is insane!!! I have to tell myself, we are all just trying to get home! Metro has been inconsistent because of deferred maintenance but it is still the best choice for journeys from Maryland to Virginia in particular.

You don't have to love camper to get one of those tear drops! I have always loved Airstreams too. The mini is super roomy. The exterior size is deceiving. It is also very fast and fun around corners:-) Do go slowly around corners if you have the trailer installed:-)
