Why are my cherry tree leaves changing color?

A few of the older leaves on my Black York cherry tree are turning dark purplish all of a sudden. I bought it from a nursery a few weeks ago and in the past week or so it's started sprouting new buds vigorously. Any ideas about what this could be?
