Kitchen sink cleaning problem

There's a dish I eat often that has a tough polenta type layer that always gets stuck at the bottom of the pot. So I normally fill the pot with water and leave it overnight. The next day I'm able to easily scrub off the food layer.

However, I do not like running the stuff down my disposal. I always scoop it out by hand and throw it into the trash can.

Is there something I could buy that I could have at the bottom of the sink? It would act as a strainer. I could then simply lift this thing up and empty the food stuff into a trash can.

Any tips will be highly appreciated.
