Thank you. for your chickies. How many do you have now? I found it amusing, when DIGNITY came after DAISY is a roo-roo and IMAGINE after ANNABELLE's & GABRIELLA's gaiters (fluffy feet). Lovely names too. Not forgetting your lovely blooms too.

Ingrida, I have 14 chickens right now. Unfortunately, "DAISY" is officially now "DESI" as he learned to crow this morning! I will be calling a gentleman who took my white silkie rooster and hen last yr. Hopefully he will give DESI a good home. I just love my Brahmas ANNABELLE & GABRIELLA! Love those fluffy feet. And their feathers are sooo soft! They're going to be huge birds! They're 2weeks younger than DESI and LULU, and they're bigger than LULU and at least the size of DESI. Unfortunately, I was pretty much aware that he was going to be a rooster because he's always been a good bit bigger than his sister LULU.

This made me laugh out loud, literally: I remembered being silly with my daughter when she was young and saying, "Guess what? Chicken butts." It made us laugh hysterically. Glad chickie butts can still do that for me. ;-)

Love your girls and Mr Roo Roo. He prob thinks he has it made with all those ladies lol. Here is a pic of my Brahma, Lily (I call her Lilypad lol) She had a sister named Pickles who has passed away..I think a fox got her. We have a lot of foxes. Lily is 6 yrs this year. Still lays a few eggs a week. Sorry everything is muddy in this pic it was rainy that day..she was also starting to molt with her tail feathers going first lol. She is soo fat she takes the space of two normal sz chickens on the perch plus she's fluffy lol. She follows me around like a puppy dog..totally mellow and gets along with everybody.

Your chicks are looking so great, Beth! Your Silver Laced Wyandotte and Brahmas are beautiful and I love the coloring of Lulu. Enjoy your blooms as well.

Aaawww Jasmine your LILY is beautiful! Six yrs!! Yay I'm glad they live that long. The Brahmas are fast becoming my favorites. They are soooo soft!! And BIG birds! I assume they will lay jumbo eggs? My older big girls are Black Sex-links. Elvira lays big ol' huge eggs! She's my Alpha.

Dave Miss Lulu looks a lot like her older sister Gertie, only Gertie has more brown and golden tones. I think once Lulu gets her fully mature feathers in, she'll look even more like Gertie. Hey, are you the one who managed to get some Blue-laced Red Wyandottes?? Wish I could snag some, but I'll have to wait til I lose some of these girls, down the road someday. I've got 14 counting Desi. But I will have to find him a home. He didn't crow this morning. Maybe the talk I had with him worked... LOL

Yes, the Blue-Laced Red (only one was available) along with a Silver and an Easter Egger should be here next week. Fingers crossed they'll be okay being shipped in the summer. Oh, and looking at those beautiful lavender Orpingtons - I definitely want them but I've reached my limit for now.

OMG Dave I wanna see pics of that little BLRW when you get her!! Wish I could get some, but right now I'm maxed out as it is. We're technically only supposed to have TWO chickens and NO roos!! I thought Desi was being a good boy when I went out this morning cuz he didn't crow at all. That was about 7:40. My son later informed me... "Mom! Your rooster was crowing at 6:02 this morning!!" Eek.. Thankfully he was already up, but I hope Desi didn't wake any of the neighbors. I just made him a "no-crow" collar and when I get home this evening I'll have to get my husband to help me put it on him. I watched videos about them and if you do it right, they barely crow at all. So we shall see...

Beth - I was notified this week that my order couldn't be filled. Apparently they were having trouble with some hatching and I was at the bottom of the list. So sad! But - I am planning on ordering in in early winter for spring delivery. Oh, well...

Aaaaww that's a bummer. Well keep us posted. I wanna see somebody get some of those beauties! I am sooo lovin' my Brahmas. They're so big and soft!! Can't wait til they start layin'. BTW.... Desi has had his no crow collar on for 5days now and so far so good!!

Well...I spoke too soon. Desi is crowing his little butt off this morning, even with the collar tightened. Gotta go!! Bummer....

Darn - sorry, Beth. My Americauna I was afraid could be a rooster started crowing this week. He's has to go as well. Only one of my two Lavender Americaunas survived and I think I'm almost sure it is truly a female, so I'm happy about that. They weren't the cheapest birds and were not sexed so it was a gamble.

I wanna see pics of that Lavender Ameraucana!! I bet she's a pretty girl! I'm hoping the guy who took my white silkies last yr will come get Desi tonight. He actually stopped by without calling last Sunday, and I was out putting the collar on him. My husband told him we wanted to give it a try for a few days. I didn't get a chance to talk to him. I left a message this morning. Hopefully he'll show up tonight when I get home. If we have to wait til tomorrow, his little butt will be crowing like a fiend tomorrow morning! I need him to go before someone complains to the town. They'll come take away all but two of my hens if they come out. My son just told me he knows a lady whose kittens got sick and the vet told her someone had given them anti-freeze. She called the cops to come and investigate and they saw she had 6 chickens... Animal control was closed, so they confiscated 4 of hers!! If I lose all but 2 I might as well quit keeping them at all. TWO chickens?? That's not even worth doing. I hate our town council members, they're such jerks. But they just keep getting voted in yr after yr. I don't get it. I love my chickens!!!

That'd be great if Desi could find a good home. My wife and I were out today visiting a friend who would hopefully take Esperanza (the Americauna rooster) - waiting on the final word. Today I noticed one of my reds is getting a bigger comb and tail feathers - I pray not another one! It's still not clear whether or not my silkie is male or female.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind the limit of two chickens? I think people who made the law could answer that. However, I agree, best keep things quiet so you can continue raising your wonderful flock.

    Here is Diana:

You made me miss my Black Magic from a few houses ago ...

Wow Diana is beautiful!! How old is you red? My two SLWs are maturing waaaay faster than the other birds, and I'm hoping they aren't roos. Altho I think by now they'd be crowing with Desi! They're going on 17weeks. The Brahmas are going on 16weeks and are bigger than the SLWs and as big as my yr-old BSLs. Their combs and wattles are barely showing so far. I just love them so much. They're the sweetest birds!

As far as the two chicken thing... I think that's their way to discourage people from even having chickens at all. So stupid. We are a rural area up in the lower Sierra Mountains, so what's the big deal?!! It's just another way to have control over everybody.
