No restraint for a clematis on sale!

In addition to my Bluestone order this week (Gillian Blades and Huldine), I picked up three 'rescues' today - Madame Julia Correvon, Jackmanii and Pink Champagne. None of these three are varieties or colors that I have been really interested in, but they were less than $10, flowering and just sad - poor things had to be untangled from a pile. I'll cut them down, give them some much deserved attention and try to get a fresh bloom out of them later in the summer. Anyone else finding bargains and ending up with clematis varieties they didn't think they'd ever buy? Vanessa

Great finds !!! Madame Julia blooms a long time for me . It's a goodie !!

I did actually just buy a Josephine for $3 at lowes ! It was done blooming and very healthy. However, I don't even like Josephine much when I see it in photos ! Haha I just had crazy eyes when I saw the price and had to get it . I mean $3?! Practically free .

Oh yeah! It happens all the time for me. I'm expecting 3 in the mail this week that were on sale. Crater Lake, Guernsey Cream and Midori. Not super cheap, but discounted and free shipping. I'll keep you posted.

I added Guernsey earlier this year - I've finally gotten to the point where I need to keep a list of who is what and where.

Lily - "crazy eyes" ! That's exactly how I get when I see varieties I wasn't expecting and on sale, to boot! Talking to myself and the plants while untangling, I'm sure I scared my fellow shoppers.

I we t to Donahues in Mn end of season sale. They had 2 clematis in one pot. Usually 32.oo down to 12.00. Then i got blue ones for the shade.
