How about a full wall that goes from the left of the fireplace to where the angle of the floor starts and put the TV on that wall with the DVD recorder, decoder and all those things under it. You can then have the TV at a more comfortable height for watching. TV above fireplaces are almost always too high. Unless you watch TV standing up.

That's one solution Carolins , but it might make the entrance feel a bit tight ....Gosh ! There's only one wall and that's at the dining end so not suitable really !! The rest are windows or fireplace !!! You could have a freestanding tv or built into a piece of furniture .... If you have the points built to the right of the fireplace (as you stand in front of it ) then you could have a freestanding B&O style tv in front of the sliding doors - that will allow either an L shape sofa or pair of sofas for tv viewing and cosiness in front of the fire !
