Man if our nurseries in Australia around me had plants like that I would be a happy camper .

Peter, this nursery is a very unique one. When you walk through, it's like a huge garden in the woods. They say that if it exists, they can get it. I'm in Houston Texas, so I guess being around a huge city helps.

Lucky? I should say so! I'm sure that here in the U.K. there are plants that many of you can't grow given our difference in climate, but wow, if I ever saw plants here like that, I would definitely fill my trolley! That is one super looking flower.

Good find!! I plan another trip to Houston 6/30/17. But, usually only go to two nurseries on the North East side of town.

Thanks everyone! Yes it's Maa's nursery! They had another color that I didn't get yet, called "Strawberry". I wasn't sure if it would be pretty. None were blooming. They also have some large multigrafted plants. I was told no more orders until spring so get them soon!

Printmaster, do you have pictures of the other two? I can't wait to see how they will look!

Also, I considered going to Cactus King because I heard they carry them and Maa's was out at the time; but it's such a long drive for me. I'm in South Houston. Is that one that you go to?

I recently went to cactus king. They have plenty grown from seed, but none that was flowering. They also had 3 huge XXXL Adenium, but extremely expensive! Oh come to think they had other Large ones @ $200. Here are some pictures I took.

Ooh thanks for the pics, Jean! Those are some good sized ones! I know what you mean by your collection growing too fast. Mine is too!! I'm going crazy over here buying plants and growing seedlings. I live in a condo so I have limited outdooor space. Once I get into a house, it'll be even more fun!

You need to go to Nature Growers 8449 Breen Rd in Houston. He has the biggest selection of adeniums I have ever seen and you can't beat his prices. Ask to see his private collection and prepare to faint. He also has a fabulous selection of plumeria again at rock bottom prices, lots of Thai hybrids. I like Maas but their prices can be a bit shocking. Cactus King is one of my absolute favorite nurseries in Houston, the owner can be a bit gruff but once you get him talking he is a blast. Darn, I need to road trip up there!

we need to have a garden shop one day and all get together and hit the nurseries on the north side. RCW has some great adeniums and tons of cool tropicals. JRN is just drool worthy, then all those nurseries in the Heights and Josephs in Pearland. Joseph's is hit and miss on adeniums but they are the place to go for citrus.

I haven't heard of RCW.

I plan to visit Nature Growers and JRN Friday 6/30.

Beachplant, thanks so much for the suggestions! I was having a hard time finding places to get nice Adenium. Yeah, Maa's can definitely get on the higher end as far as prices! I will look up your suggestion right now :)

I wanted a yellow flower so badly. I can't wait to see it bloom. The Black Widow is very burgundy. I've heard the "black" varieties often either open almost black or turn almost black as the flower gets older. Have you noticed that?

I think I'm going to plan a trip up to Nature Growers and Cactus King really soon. I live in southern Houston burbs and don't drive up often so I'll knock them both out in a day. My hubby prob won't like that I might get more, hehe. I live in a condo so space is limited. I've been going hog wild buying them lately. :D

My experience with the Black named varieties is different with each plant and each season. Some plants open dark and turn lighter. I have never had a solid black.

Natures Growers is the absolute best nursery for adeniums, he has tons and tons of them, lots of seedlings-one of the seedlings I bought last year just bloomed and is a gorgeous deep red/purple double, I think they are $2 or something like that. Last years plants are maybe $12 and the new ones $15 at the most. I picked up Intense Rainbow Plumeria for $10 last year too.

Jean - In your second set of pics (the last one), do you know by chance; if the plant on the far right is an "Aloe dichotoma"?? Look's like one (or an A. ramosissima), my favorite Tree Aloe.

Thanks Jean. I was able to make out the name on the tag "Aloe Hercules", which is a hybrid.

"Aloe 'Hercules' (Hercules Aloe) A large hybrid tree aloe that is the result of a cross between the large Tree Aloe, Aloe barberae (A. bainesii) and the smaller Quiver Tree, Aloe dichotoma."
