Thanks aurorawa. I think I questioned this plant before but wasn't convinced it was Red Buttons because of no red leaves. All the other descriptions seem to match so I'll leave it labeled as Red Buttons. Thanks again.

It looks like my Red Buttons, too. I think you'll love the flowers. They're probably my favorite pubicalyx, and one of my top favorite Hoyas of all. Hoping to see a long new vine this summer, as I have mine in a small pot, bright sunlight (outdoors-shade all day until mid-afternoon), and have been giving my plants some MG Tomato Food (and the humidity has been really high lately), so hoping for good things.

It got the name for the flowers, yes, but it is a cultivar, and as such, leaves will vary slightly from plant to plant and vendor to vendor.

I got mine from Ric Moreir, and once in awhile, new leaves are slightly red. There are very few leaves that have any splashing on them, but it does occur.

My 'Bright one' has more rounded leaves than 'Red Buttons', and there is much more splashing throughout the plant.

The pubicalyx cultivars are really difficult to ID until they bloom because of the variation each individual plant has.

And the variation in blooms can be significant, even among a cultivar. Here are two open umbels on the same 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' at the same time...I intermingled them to show the contrast.

On my red buttons the leaves are always solid purple when young including the vine itself. Its an SRQ so it's probably different.
