I'd go for something different, but I would look for something with different tones to it. Brass maybe or glass.

I'm not a person who likes to match things especially if the lamps are going to be different. So I would go for a different one. I like what lukkirish said in brass or glass perhaps.

Thanks everyone! I was leaning towards different also (which was why I ordered just 1 table to start). I am playing around with some different configurations. (1) Putting the black skinny table on the other side of the sofa and getting a stool or drum table next to the chair (2) Putting the new end table on the other side of the sofa and getting a square one in the spot that it occupies right now. I will try and find some options to post.

What about something like this? I was thinking it brings in the black metal from the small black side table and the wood from the round end table.

with not matching tables and lamps.

What I don't like about non matching tables on each side of the sofa is height differerences, than of course if two lamps are used they are different heights. Is it only me that finds this weird?

I think either the lamps of the end table should match, but never both. Personally, I prefer matching lamps and non-matching end tables but it really is a personal preverence.

The first lamp looks too short to be a side table lamp. The second one, style wise, doesn't work as an end table lamp. Before you choose a lamp, you need to purchase your end tables to know what height lamp you'all need. I don't think the 2 tier table works well as an end table in your room. I'm also not crazy about the metal table next to the chair. I'd get a ceramic or metal stool for next to the chair. I'd keep looking for another end table for the sofa or get another of the one you already have and get different lamps of the same height.

This isn't a terribly good picture but it shows different end tables and different lamps, although they are the same height and the lampshades are fairly similar. The end table on the left is an antique two-drawer French lingerie chest and the one on the right is a small table with chair.

25" is short, that's usually the height of a desk lamp where you need light lower. I would say around 32-34" overall height usually works. But you need to measure once you have the tables. And another poster was right...if you mix match the end tables try to get them really close in height.

Update....I received the small black table and it is all wrong. Sending that one back.

I could do the square end table from the same collection. They are also the same height so that is nice.

Hmmm. If I did SAME end tables, I'd do different lamps. If I did DIFFERENT end tables, I'd do same lamps. All different would look junky to me regardless of price tag. My inclination would be diff end tables, this is strictly regarding flanking the sofa.

I think any of them could conceivably work, but so much will depend on the height. Will both of the new end tables be the same height? If so, why don't you try some lamps you already have to see what high is best. Then you can narrow down your choices. Also, do you plan to add any window treatments?

Consider the height of the lamps and also the size of the base- will the lamp take up too much real estate on your table top?

I don't have many lamps yet...but this one is 25.5". Both end tables will be the same height.

I think the lamp in the picture still looks too short- sorry! It makes the room feel shorter.

Thanks aktillery! For now, my husband says no on a rug. :( We have older dogs that like to pee on fuzzy things. They are perfect when there is hardwood floor only. I might do an ottoman at some point.

I really like the table in your last picture and the lamp is not bad. The heavy-bodied ones look somehow wrong; I would opt for something with a slim silhouette, which would also give you more room to place other things on the table, decorative or otherwise. The grayish color of the table also looks more stylish than the brown, which seems to darken everything around it.

I definitely think you should do mix matched end tables and the same lamps! I can't wait to see what art you reveal! :) The room is seriously coming together gorgeously!
