That sounds good, is there a local supplier for the Violette De Bordeaux? Sounds lovely!

I bought a VdB from the Home Depot and it's a little lanky and slightly slow growing, but it has grown figs a few times already. I think they overprune them a bit so they fit in a big truck. They usually sell figs in spring, although sometimes you can catch them in the fall. The summer isn't a good time to plant anyway so if you manage to find one now I'd wait until fall to plant it.

I have another VdB that I bought from ebay that is growing fast and looks very healthy and has grown a bunch of figs already (and it's only about a year and a half old now).

iandyaz, the one you bought from ebay, was it a cutting or a rooted plant?

I ordered three figs this spring in 4" pots from Bay Laurel Nursery, including VdB. All are doing great.

All the cuttings I got were from other varieties, but I did get a small VdB fig plant from Wellspring Gardens on ebay that's grown a lot this year. It's probably about 3 feet tall now and it's still doing fine in the heat. The VdB I got from Home Depot lost most of it's leaves in the heat wave we had a few weeks back. There are already new leaves growing on it though so I'm not too worried about it. There may have been a problem with my dripper near it.
