Donna, Yes, they are for a VA. The gal that takes them said the VA prefers them 36"
- 45" and the length between 45" - 50" or a little longer.

Nice work Geezer, bright & upbeat. I had to look up r/w/b (duh me), but they're terrific. I too like the dog backing. I especially like the 1st quilt, w/ the brown sashing that's slightly offset. The offset really works for me, I'd like to try that sometime.

Sharon, on your random strips, did you do bias seams or straight seams? With such small pieces, it seems like it would waste a lot of fabric to do bias.

Me do bias? Me waste fabric? Nah.......it's all straight.....easy......no fuss. :-)

Karen, Using the brown on only 2 sides of the block gives a natural off-set look when put together, plus it sort of frames the block and also gives the eyes a place to rest from the abundance of different fabric. win-win-win :-)

One more question, I can't tell if the widths are all the same on the first one. They don't look like they are. Did you just trim the squares to size? I know this is probably a no brainer, but hey, I am a blonde.

Think I'm going to have to make one for DH to use in the car. He turned off the AC while we were driving because his legs were cold. I was driving with the sun on my side so I turned it back on, grabbed the dog's blanket out of the back seat and put it over his legs.

Bev, The strips are mainly 2 1/2" and sometimes I would sneak in something that was already sewn together to get the size I wanted. The blocks were 12 1/2" before adding the brown on 2 sides.

Glassquilt, If I want to try a new pattern, it's fun to turn it into a small quilt if I decide I don't want to make something larger. win-win
