How much overhang do I need for my island?

We have a rather large island that we had built. It's 10 feet long and 4 feet deep with cabinetry in both sides. We plan to have 4 bar stools on one side and two additional stools on one side. How much overhang do I need to be able to comfortably sit at the island? This will be where my family will eat our meals.
