Is it too late to move the fireplace in the family room - as this Is what's making it awkward IMO ?! Would be better if centralised on the wall that backs on to the master bedroom ! I appreciate that if this is a real working fireplace this may not be as easy to move - but if it's aesthetic with a flueless gas fire it should be relatively easily moved ?!?! That way you could have large sofa with two statement chairs opposite in the family room - so you'd see the statement chairs from front door ...

Even if the couch is placed in front of the window, it will be quite a distance from the entryway and the couch will not be the main focus as one walks in from the front door.

Thanks ! The builder says we r past the stage of requesting structural changes so cannot move the fireplace now.
The house has a lot of other features that we like , am only having a challenge with the family room set up. Want to have drapes in the window , will keeping the couch by the window obstruct the beauty of the drapes? Will keeping the couch parallel to kitchen take away from the open feel if the plan? How many furniture pieces should we have for seating ? Is a sectional better in this case than couch and love seat ? I have some more pictures of how the room will look in the house
