Magnolia Problem Help!

I planted a magnolia a few months ago and it has been growing great until last week when I noticed it was loosing a lot of leaves and they were getting a faded yellowish color through them. After web research I sprayed and iron fertilizer on them and now they are getting black spots. The branches themselves look okay to me. Any ideas what is going on???

Did you find any references to plant chlorosis?

What is the soil like this is growing in?

What is the pH of the soil?

I did find the plant chlorosis in my first problem search and that is why I sprayed it with an iron fertilizer the other day. Then the leaves got the black spots. It is a new bed and when I planted it I mixed in good soil. How do I test the pH?

Most likely the original rootball is dry.

Stick your finger in it to determine how dry it is.

Then water as often as is needed.
