The spot on the leaf to right, half way down. Definitely leaf scald. Rest of leaves look great. Slowly acclimate the leaves/plant to full sun. Keep in a filtered sunlight site if you can. It will recover fine. You want to make sure it has enough water, but for the size of plant to soil ratio (being on the high side). You need to make sure it does not stay saturated for a long time. Softness could be a combination of high heat, loss of water. Keep an eye on it and if soil is moist, let it dry back.

Ok thank you Rick. What do you suggest I do about the leaf scald?

Arella, It appears in photo that only one leaf was effected? Either way, just leave it and with it being a lower leaf, it will eventually just drop off.

I put a group of mine out in full sun all day long and the others received filtered light through the hottest part of the day. The ones in the filtered light look much better and perform the same.

I think Rick gave excellent advice. It'll be fine, water it more, but don't let it stay wet. I was the Queen of NOT watering enough when my seedlings were indoors last winter. Stunted the poor little things.

So should I water more often ( every 2 days) or add more water when I do water every 3-4 days?

Arella could you please put the country or area you live so we can get a good idea of what type of advice. each country or even state has its own types of growing conditions. . I get the yellow blotches usually summer I Allso get a black tar like substance when they get to hot it never seems to harm them they drop the leaves. in Australia summer I give them a good water every two days

How often, will depend on soil type and conditions.

If you have a free draining mix such as I use. When I water, it starts running out the bottom holes pretty much right away.

If using a soil that has Peat/Coconut Coir, then the soil will take more water to get it moisten and have it drain out the bottom holes. This type of soil is going to dry back slower than the later.

From what I can see in your photo, it looks as though there is some fine particles in the mix.

All of this will also depend on whether it is winter or summer. It will be a matter of you becoming familiar with the soil mix you are using.

Hi, Arella -

Lower leaf drop is normal as the plant ages, so don't worry about it. If you'd like to get rid of the unsightly leaves, just cut them off close to the stem with a scissor. The nub will fall off on its own.

You want soil like for a cactus on this one. The roots will uptake water from moisture left behind. It should drain super fast ... The water should just go right through, with no standing water.

I highly recommend you add perlite to your current mix, creating a ratio of 50% soil /50% perlite. This will protect your roots and caudex from rot. You may have to water or let it get rained on twice a week during the summer; much less in winter.

Hey, first of all, remove the leaf, then keep your plant in full sun as long as you can - ALWAYS..they love sun...full sun...and lots of water with dry periods in between...Your plant look healthy. I live in the Caribbean so I water my adeniums every day, but I know that soil will dry on daily basis as well :) that’s the trick, you need to know your soil and make sure that your soil won’t stay wet too long...simple as that...your adenium looks like you do not give it enough light, leafs are big so they try to catch as much light as possible, caudex is not as big as i could have been if you could shorten watering cycles to every day of every other...misting soil is always good go. good luck! On the pic are seedlings grown in full sun since day one. they look like little baobabs with small leafs. More sunlight better, you can always squeeze them in smaller pots, that could help to get bigger caudex.
