I bought Silestone which is a similar quartz manufactured product. I think the manufactured products are generally more predictable than the natural stones like Granite which has natural fissures and potential for chipping. I can recommend the Silestone product but don't buy from Home Depot. Home Depot requires that you sign their prepared sales contract which includes a warranty provision which is meaningless. It dictates that Home Depot has the final word on all warranty disputes. Please read the thread "Countertop dispute with fabricator" from beginning to end before you commit to a purchase. Home Depot and their contractor M.R. Stone, LLC of Mount Air, Md. burned me but do your home work so they don't burn you. Watch the installation from beginning to end. You would have a better chance of success by doing business with a company that has a good reputation to protect. Get recommendations from people that have had good professional experiences with a company. Withhold some of the money if possible until you are satisfied with the product. Be defensive and paranoid.

Phil thank you for your advice. Luckily I am using a fabricator I have worked with several times. Sounds like you have been dealing with a mess. Hope all gets fully resolved for you

I did install it and the counter itself is beautiful. However, there are what I call ghost marks on the island countertop. In full light the factory sheen is fine and marks can't be seen, in the evening when I have under cabinet lights on it looks like it is etched but it isn't. I have only used plain water or a little dish detergent to clean. The only other thing that has been on this counter is acetone when installed. The marks go along the waterfall edge and I believe in places where the rag they used was set down.

I have spoken to my fabricator who says they use acetone all the time. Waiting now for the Compac rep to look at it.

Hi Joshua, I did also have Unique Calacatta installed and have the same results that you are calling ghost marks, it's like a film/spots on it. Have you had any luck with Compac replying to this matter. I had Compac come out and they did replace the slabs, but now the new ones have the same problem. I had other counter top fabricators come out and they have all told me it is the slab it self with the problem not the fabricators/installers fault.

I am dealing with the same ghost marks. Has anyone been able to get COMPAC to stand behind the product and replace it?

They replaced my counters twice my dealer dealt directly with Compac push your stone business to get it rectified also dont let installers use acetone after installation to clean up ive been using 50/50 solution of alcohol and water to clean since Covid and counters look great good luck
