For some recessed lights we have, the only way I have been able to unscrew them is to take a thin strap and slide it behind the bulb and then squeeze it across the face of the bulb so that the strap grips the bulb tightly. Then pull slightly, and twist the strap, and the bulb will unscrew.

I have a 2" diameter suction cup that I use. You could also use duct tape to fashion a handle that sticks to the face of the bulb.

Hmmm... this seems close, but I tilt and I can't seem to get the inner ring to release, though I can get my fingers around the bulb a bit when tilted. Is the ring supposed to press in? [These are not well designed lights, however well they fit the recessed nook for reading!]

The ring should come out fully.

What kind of lamp is that? It looks like an MR16. Are you sure it is a screw base?

The whole entire trim comes out with the lamp. The lamp is inserted into the trim from the back.
