I just bought a Celosia 'Dragon's Breath' yesterday. I don't have any photos of it, but I found one of it online; same type of pot and all. I've already thought about going back and at least buying one more of them. I don't know much about them. Are they annuals? Or can they be grown as perennials?

HaHa, I knew I was going to mix those names up... Coleus/Celosia. They are so similar. I went back and edited my mistake, lol. I was also looking at some gorgeous Coleus as well. Such vibrant colors in both species. I ultimately decided on the 'Dragon's Breath.' I thought the name sounded cool, and went along perfectly with the plant. The pot says that these love the heat, so I thought that I'd give them a shot.

No doubt, the more pretty plants, the merrier!

My father used to have Celosia and, from memory, it used to reseed itself, though not in weed proportions. I find Coleus a bit difficult here. It goes to flower rapidly and then declines. I have one large one I've kept going by nipping the flowers off. It's still going strong now (nearly mid winter) but new flower spikes keep showing every few days.

I've had these Coleus for years. They bloom a lot and some seedlings have shown up but I didn't show any pics of those. Bees & butterflies love the blooms, I always leave them on while the plants are outside.

I love coleus. I have always bought a few over the summer because they are so cheap, and one of my absolute favs. But this year they were in 6 inch pots and asking $7.00 apiece, every where from Wallys world to Home Depot. I got a little stubborn, and did not buy one. They are so easy to propagate it just seemed a bit greedy. But I am glad to see they are a favorite houseplant again. I have a pot with a few varities in it, and have given away nice big plants over the year, and kept my plant nice and full in the process. Too fun.
