Had to get it planted this evening, read some more on this site and the web. I planted it in a larger pot Thani originally thought best, but I felt that the roots did need to have planting media around them. I used an 8" clay pot /drainage hole enlarged. A layer of packing peanuts! used orchid bark mix and small lava rocks.

the only question remaining, do I water the plant or let sit for several days like I do with orchids? I did pre soak in kelp solution 2-3 hrs.

i put mine in a half gallon milk jug with the top cut off the jug. made some drainage slits in the side of the container near the bottom and then placed the plant in there, surrounding, and supporting it with lava rock. it sits outside in semi shade all summer. i water every couple of days. am in year three with the plant. clivia have rhizomes like orchids. i drench with a WEAK MG fert mix in the summer. have taken it from six to ten leaves. expect it to bloom this year or next. sounds like you have an adequate mix if it drains quickly.
