Interesting - it doesn't look much like my The President which has narrower petals, doesn't have that much ruffling on the edges, and is generally lighter in color. Maybe it's that the one in the photo isn't fully open.

Yours is far lovelier than mine.

I thought it looked like a first flower that was "not right" as many often aren't normal when they first bloom and photo being shaded. I was going by the stamens more than the tepals.

The second bloom also had the slightly ruffled edges...it was from either Home Depot or Lowe's, so it can't be a terribly exotic variety. Thank you NHBabs, I'm just loving clematis this year. I have you, buyorsell and Miguel to thank, really. I so wish Miguel was still with us! So much great knowledge on this forum.

I do miss Miguel for sure. He was a great guy.
