^ thanxx! what would u say about the rug? i feel theres just too much going on in there, something plain perhaps?

I think the chair back is a little too low for the table. I also think the rug is fine. What's throwing me are the drapes. I would go with a plain lined linen panel or a solid navy panel. I also like the chairs that are shown with the dining set. If you want to go with navy, you need something with a taller back.

Great advice! You are right, the table is high and i def would need something with a higher back. I actually had my eye on this blue chair but someone i had asked said that the entire room will look super dark and bc the legs dont go with the legs of the table it will look off, is that true? they recommended these chairs but km not too fond of it

I like your rug! But curtains look busy and dark for me.

Ugh wish I had asked for others opnions of the panels now, we just got these couple months back! i feel like its sooo difficult to match anything with the panels especially since it has damask design :/ thats probably why im so confused

The tabletop is dark and I don't think the navy chairs would look too dark with the wall colors. I think they would look nice with your rug. Maybe you can sell the panels and go for something lighter. They truly overwhelm the whole space. I would also hang them between the top of the window and the arch so the you can see the pretty arches in your room. I know your table was very expensive and the mirror and moldings are beautiful. I just hate to see them all be overwhelmed by the heavy panels.

I really appreciate your advice! So you suggest getting a plain navy blue panel rather? i just love the grey and navy combo

what would you recommend as panels, bc im def leaning towards those blue chairs but dont want the room to look to dark if i do blue panels too

What if you got softer gray panels that will blend in more with the walls and let the dining table/chairs and rugs be the stars of the room? I would hang the draperies higher and wider so they just frame the windows and don't cover so much of them. Just doing that will really add some brightness to the room. Maybe you could use the blue panels in another room? A spare bedroom perhaps?

You would have to find a new place for the mirror...maybe on the wall with the fronds? Hang the mirror between two fronds only...take the 3rd one down. I think the 3 matching wall art pieces are adding to the "too much going on there" feeling.

If you keep the rug, I might also paint out the smaller molding in the wainscotting to match the wall color and just keep the chair rail light. There IS a lot going on, but you have lovely things and it will all come together.

I think light color drapes will work better than navy.

Keep that beautiful rug, light panels as others have suggested.

I agree with roarah. If possible, I would switch out rug and move round mirror. I love the drapes. My dining room is a similar moody gray with busy curtains and no rug (only bc it is a small room and we don't need one). I love it.

WOW! thank u soo much for shedding some light on my panels lol I honestly have taken all of yout suggestions into consideration, so VERY useful! I may go with roarah's advice on the change of rug, its just too much going on esp with the curtains. What do u think about these dining chairs to go with the room? my husband is in love with it and hes all for it

Solid rug, keep the drapes, chairs above are too modern for your look. If it were me, I'd order the chairs that match the table.

I think the chairs are interesting. Can you order one to see if you like it? I do think the chairs that they show with the dining set are a good match as well. Is there a reason you don't care for them. If you're going to keep your drapes, I agree that you should change the rug. I don't think you need to stick with a solid though. Here are two, similar in design, that I think could work very well in your room.

If you decide to keep the drapes and change the rug, I would remove the mirror, move the rods out so the drapes don't cover so much of the windows and have them hemmed so they just brush the floor. I think this will take away a lot of the heavy feeling that they're giving you now.

To me the wall color is throwing everything else off. I would paint it a less muddy, softer gray, or gray blue and then see about the drapes. The paint color in theclose's room is more what I would suggest.

I love the drapes. Its exciting to see a room, with a bit of drama, rather than the plain neutrals, that I see constantly.
