expanding the rex count

last modified: 9 years ago

Last year I found that that the bigbox stocked some different rex begonias when the warm weather rolled around. These were in the outdoor garden area, and a few bucks more than the houseplants I usually get. As such, I only got one last year.

This year, I realized I better grab them while available, because there is not usually a lot of choices. The good news is that the potting mix that the grower used looked pretty
good to me, so these actually looked better than the ones on the
houseplants rack when I repotted them.

My new pals for 2017

Haven't been able to ID this silver leaf with chocolate edge.

I believe this one vvvv is mazatlan?

And maybe chicago fire? vvvvv

This one really grew on me, after I noticed the little spots around the edge of the leaf. So cool.

Those are all nifty. But this one is really grabbing my attention. I think it is Jurassic Pink? More spots on the edges.

Unfortunately, all of those on the rack were pretty beat up. It's been a few weeks and it still doesn't look as nice as I think it could. Plus, my leaf cuttings have a low success rate compared to my other varieties.
