What is your price point?

Well, since I see this as temporary and won't be using it much if at all once our range is fixed, I'd say $75. We can manage to not starve between the micro, toaster oven and grill but eggs in the morning will be a challenge ;-)

I do scramble eggs in the micro and they are pretty good! (can't help ya on the over easy...)

Buying the open box is smart. But since DLM2000 needs it a) now, and b) guaranteed to work, it might be smarter to buy a brand new unit for once

I agree with M. I'll suggest the Duxtop/Secura (same company), either the 9100 (within your hoped-for budget) or the 9600 (about $20 over.) If you have not seen the blog posts on portable induction cookers at CenturyLife.org, you may find them helpful. Good write-ups on the pros, cons, limitations, ugliness, and weirdness. The one on the 9100 model is here and the one on the 9600 model is here.
