Help with Bedroom

When I built my home in East TN I wanted a Southwest and Native American theme/ decor. I know ,,many think of cabin and lodge ( I had that in my previous log house and I have a bear room downstairs.

I haven't decorated my bedroom! Six years! When I was looking for decor I just could not find what I wanted or I was just too indecisive. I love crimson reds they seem so cozy, but there are so many trees I want the light and airy feel in the spring mornings. I have almost decided " Farmhouse" On a recent trip to NM I realized why I loved the southwestern colors to start with.

Before I get to my question.....I am not going to paint my living room anytime soon so the color has to stay for now. I truly wish we had not built the bedroom off the living room!!! At the time it seemed okay we were building a medium sized cabin style home in the mountains with few visitors mostly raccoons and occasionally black bear.

So , I painted my bedroom before Christmas 2016 and can't finish!!!! I do not like how the color is seen from the living room where the Gold Leaf Benjamin Moore color is the main color.

What color should paint this bedroom?? And how do I decorate it ? I want it to blend in the background from the living room and be bright and airy with some color. I do not like green and yellow and am over the gray and yellow decor. I have thought of a Duck Egg Blue. ?? But how would I blend this with my living room . Please help!!!!

You could go worn an off white similar to the fabric on the dining chairs, then have a wall you can't see from the living room be an accent color without worrying about it clashing

With a strong color like Gold Leaf, consider going lighter on the color strip with Westminster Gold or lighter. If you are really over the "yellow" look at Exhale for an alternative to Duck Egg Blue.

White cream... I vote because I feel you need some time to complete your feelings on your place and this is a great palette starter with what you have going on.. if you wanted a afgan throw on your bed with all those SW hues, or a similar floor rug, it may help you feel that cozy feeling. Personally.. I really like Georgia Okeefe's home and I personally have a strong feeling that you may gather some great insight looking at the NM home and how dabbles of cinnamon color came in.. I would be on that train vs the pattern of a rug or afgan- I am a very simple colorist though! With the 4 seasons, I love celebrating each one! I bring in leaves and acorns, evergreens and red bows.. fresh brights! I know how you feel! I am a transplant from Hawaii with one season pretty much too..

I'm not sure from your question if you want to go farmhouse or southwestern. I suggest you can create some flow from the gold LR by first finding a print blanket you love that has some gold, also red if you want to incorporate it. (See photo below). My idea would be to have light neutral walls, window coverings, and comforter, the patterned blanket folded at foot of bed, then adding some colourful pillows.

Thank you all so much! I love the ideas! Sometimes I just get stuck and just can't bring it together. Someone asked about farmhouse or southwest style; I was about to just go a total direction from trying to make the southwestern style fit everything that I wanted such as the light, airy and cozy feeling. But, with these great tips I have a start! The white cream would be light, accent wall on the opposite side for some color and maybe a colorful blanket or rug! Thank you all!

Great! Not to pester but be sure to look at G.O.'s home.. it has your similar lines as well. It is very light airy and cozy! It might not be what you want but she also used spots of reds.. I saw a chaise.. just for fun anyway! If you wanted to see an artist love those same colors in her home... the warmth! I went to her house to look and see the wall color before I answered because I thought the SW would be super minimal and still those wonderful colors.. anyway! Good night!

I came across this bedroom photo and I thought I would share as it made me think of your dilemma because it seems to be a mix of southwest and farmhouse, imo anyway. I just love the cozy feeling of it! (And notice there's some gold in the bedding)
