Looks like a Tortoise Beetle larva.

Thanks Gorbelly! I've seen the adult Clavate Tortoise Beetles on my plants but didn't know anything about their larva stage. They don't seem to be too much of a problem. Is hand picking the best solution?

Yeah, I usually just hand-pick slow-moving pests and don't fret about them too much. It really depends on how many you're finding and your priorities in the garden. I plant for beneficials and pollinators, so I try to not use any insecticides at all for fear of knocking the acceptable balance in my garden (mild to moderate pest damage, but not enough to bother production) out of whack.

Pests that I would intervene with more purposefully are things that will blow up like wildfire if you don't stay on top of them, like mites, any pest that can spread diseases like viruses, bacterial wilt, etc., pests that bore into fruit or stalks, or obviously anything that's getting out of control. I don't worry about nibbles taken out of leaves here and there.
