I think that one (Interlude Taupe Ogee) could be quite lovely. I would get a "sample" mailed to you and check it out. Without seeing the other adjoining rooms, I'm not sure about walls, but since the paper is quite subtle, I would do all walls and that small inset in the ceiling in the gold leaf, then a gold and crystal chandelier of some kind would look very beautiful. At night it would simple be wonderful with some candlelight. Very nice. But you will need some good lighting from a great chandelier.

Yes, my suggestion is that since you obviously expect a spectacular room, hire a professional designer.

Don't try to do this off the forum. This DIY forum is really more for people who don't have the funds to hire a professional interior designer.

It seems you want and need the services of a designer and a good decorative artist. A designer will be able to help you with that and work with the artist to come up with a stunning wall treatment whether it be Venetian plaster or large scale player work stenciling or metallic work. Here are a few ideas but you need to hire a pro. Sorry, I'm retired;)!

For a room that size and a table that size, a 12x15' rug would be about right. It will allow diners to move their chairs back and forward without having to deal with the rug edge. And you should select a rug in a color you love. I would select the rug first, and then the wallpaper, draperies and art. Do you want a patterned or solid rug? Other design considerations when choosing a rug: your china (pattern or not), placemats or tablecloths (or none), the style of your chairs, the colors in adjacent rooms (I only see the one adjacent room, which appears to be the same color), your own favorite colors. I don't see any other furniture in the dining room...buffet, hutch. If there is a side piece, it should stand on the floor, so the size of the rug may be adjusted from 12x15' to accommodate any side pieces. The room will come alive with the rug, wallpaper, drapes and art. Two matching smaller- scale chandeliers or one larger chandelier will work.

I just realized @pity30002000 that the size of your table should only fit 10 people comfortably. The five chairs you have there looks cramped. Can you place those extra chairs on each side of your buffet table if you have one.
