How is Polarstern's growth/health? I like the way the petals look like triangles -- its unique!

Polarstern is subject to getting blackspot. I spray. It has upright growth. In my climate in NE Iowa it grows 5' tall. It is very hardy - I don't give it winter protection. It is scented.

I have two, one was bought as a grafted rose bush. I managed to root the other.

The grafted rose bush is a prolific bloomer. It blooms like a grandiflora, although this winter was hard on it. I am getting fewer sprays of blooms this summer. It blooms almost continuously -- although the past 10-years since Japanese beatles became so prolific, they munched on it continuously. This year I don't have so many of those bugars, so at least I can see the blooms it does get.

My rooted version of Polarstern blooms less prolifically, more like a hybrid tea, which is how this bush is classified by ARS.
