Lower left corner - not clear enough but resembles the opening of broccoli flower buds. Lower right corner - looks like the soil needs acidifying. There is a chance of blooms if it reblooms.

Is it one that is supposed to be a rebloomer? If so I wouldn't give up hope. The rebloomers just take a bit of time to form buds on new wood.

Yes, the one you are looking at is Endless Summer...but it it's in a protected location on the east side out of the wind and cold temps! Then on the west side I have these! Doesn't make sense....

Against the foundation and protected, they may have started waking up earlier and then gotten hit by a cold snap while the others were still dormant.

It looks like the main one in the pic might need more water or fertilizer. And it is not ES - the others might be, but the one in pic #1 doesn't fit the profile

Springwood, can you explain a bit more? I honestly can't tell one macrophylla from another by the foliage and don't see many differences in the foliage of serrata from the macrophyllas. So I'd love to use this as a learning opportunity.

my unimpressive ES may be a bad comparison but mine is taller and the leaf stems are longer..

Lydia..thanks but was asking about Pam's hydrangea at the bottom of her pic with lacecap blooms..Bloomstruck has mophead blooms..you're right that it's an endless summer..

Yeah pic #1 isn't ES. The leaves are too round and the internodes are too short. ES doesn't grow wrinkly leaves like that either. I would guess it would be a pink/mauve leaning variety like Merritt's.

Yes, I did at the beginning. Lower left corner of the pic looked like it was opening a bud but the pic was not clear enough to tell if there were more. Those broccoli things are the invisible flower buds opening. They are hard to tell/Id when they are small.
