Wall mounted soundbars

I'm going to have a TV mounted to the wall with an upcoming remodel and wanted to get interior designer (or any) opinions on wall mounting the soundbar underneath the TV vs. just sitting it on a cabinet underneath. I've heard an argument that it's visually cleaner to not have the speakers on the wall immediately beneath the TV - which makes sense. Wanted to know if there were any strong opinions either way.

I just googled a bunch of pics for reference. wow. Now i get it. So many times its looks ridiculous. Either the soundbar is mounted to far down on wall or the mismatched shapes and sizes and lengths and colors make it just crazy. I did a great job mounting a soundbar in my guest bedroom but its mounted from the tv with the bracket I said, not on the wall, and its immediately under tv and the widths of the tv and bar are very close in width and the colors match and the depth is perfect. Basically its perfect. Most of the pics I saw on google are a FAIL. If you have a quality piece of furniture and this is your main living area screen, then you might be best putting the soundbar on the furniture. Especially if you have sonos or martin logan or other high end LARGE soundbars which have width depth height and weight. And possibly more connection options or wires.

I think a soundbar mounted under the tv can look just fine. Ideally you want the tv and the soundbar front to be on the same vertical plane....meaning the tv does not stick out farther than the bar nor the bar sticks out farther than the tv. If your tv is not mounted FLAT and close to the wall then its a problem...you cannot then mount the soundbar on the wall. You would need to get a mounting bracket that allows you to mount the soundbar from the TV itself. Compatibility becomes an issue depending on tv and bar and kit.

Secondly wiring a soundbar so that all the wires are hidden along with a mounted tv...can also pose challenges. Sure the audio isn't hard, but the additional power wire can be. They do have kits nowadays that allow for two powered devices on the wall and hiding the wires and power. Even best buy sells it.

The other issue is distance...If your tv is mounted high or well above furniture or not exactly above it (it happens)....then the soundbar won't be in my opinion visually or audibly effective or good in that situation.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'd be able to address the wiring and keep it hidden, but aside from the big black rectangle on the wall, I'm trying to minimize presence of technology and electronics in the space, and the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward just setting it on a cabinet. It seems like it is less of a focal point there since it's not mounted in space on the wall.

If you mount the soundbar on the wall you still have to deal with power. With the TV you can put a recessed receptacle behind the TV to hide it. You shouldn't run power behind the wall.

Sanus sells a mount that lets you hang the soundbar under the mounted TV. I haven't used it.

I decided to get a Sonos Playbase and put it on the entertainment center cabinet.

They have double receptacles for powering two devices.... Ez pz

Sonos is nice . Walmart has a universal mount works good . Same thing multiple companies make a design to do stuff like that .
