Indoor Herbs Problems: basil, mint, parsely

last modified: 9 years ago

Hi! I recently bought some herbs for my kitchen. I got mint, basil, parsley and cilantro. They are located on a south facing window and receive plenty of light and sun during the day. I started watering them every other day with 100ml of water and they were thriving!

However, I started noticing Gnats flying around my kitchen so I thought probably it was too much water causing excess moisture, besides the gnats, I also noticed some white spottings on my mint and parsely. So I decided to isolate all the herbs from each other for 1 week and barely watered them during that week hoping the gnats would go away. I also sprayed some natural pesticide to all. After a week, gnats are gone but, white spots are still there but no new spots that I notice. However the herbs are wilting and dropping. I have tried to water them with a mister but it seems to be too little water..so I am debating on what is the proper care. How much water, how often? With a mister or regular watering? I can't seem to figure out the proper balance to keep the soil moist enough without attracting gnats. I put plenty of water on them today hoping they recover but now I am fearing that gnats might come back?! Appreciating any helpful advise!!! Thanks!!!
