Not using divided lights would be fine. Kitchen windows were often different from windows in public areas. New double hung windows are a lot easier to open than old ones. Also consider a casement window that cranks in and out easily. No yanking, pulling, or using stepstool as long as the lock is easily reached when standing in front of the sink (namely, don't put the lock on tip top of the window).

Your house is brick. What will you do with the outside?

Put in a 9 lite awning.

9 light awning sounds like a good solution.

I've adjusted a few openings in the brick during the renovation so I have a good brick mason. And this window faces a driveway that's six feet wide with another house on the other side, so it won't be seen much.

No lights might also work. Part of the problem with the window is that it's worse quality than the others, so it's a good point about the different finishes.

The kitchen used to have a servant staircase to the second floor. The lady of the house probably never set foot in there!
