I would give it another try. Your zone is warmer than mine so I'm not sure my experience will apply, but here goes. My heuchera always do better with some sun and they dont mind drying out a bit. So I guess I'm saying that here they don't like the extremes, too much sun, too much shade, too wet or continuously being dry. The only heuchera that I grow that thrives in all conditions here is Autumn Bride. It's not the showiest but it fills a lot of needs in my gardens.

Thank you, yes, I am trying this one more time. Unfortunately, the upper south tends to be more of extremes than most. My yard has had standing water in it from May till now (most of the time) (btw, I plant in slightly raised beds or such usually because of this). When it finally stops raining (soon), it'll be dry and devilishly hot and humid till October or later. Not to say we won't get any rain..but not enough usually. I'll do my best watering. Fall and winter is typically not an issue, though I sometimes water during them as well.

They're so pretty and would do so much to liven up my more shaded habitats...I hope this one works.

Yaah, the plants arrived. Now do I mow tonight or plant? Not sure :) I can probably mow and tell myself that the plants will do better if I give them a couple of days recuperation before planting (not sure that's true).

Thank you for asking. It looks surprisingly well, it has thrown at least 4 new large orange leaves. I can't actually remember what has seemed hardest on the plants before (summer or winter)...I really thought it was summer though. I'll try to take a quick camera shot when the sun comes up.

I guess I won't know how successful things are till next spring though.

I ended up planting against the house on the north side as mentioned with the tiarella (which looks like a ground cover...so full) next door. The tiarella has now been planted a full year and looks to be thriving.
