Input on watering, effects on inflos

I hear many opposite opinions, but would love some facts on your experiences on this subject. If you have inflos starting, especially first time bloomers, is it, or is it not dangerous for the health of the inflo to get wet? I mean, these are grown in the wild, in the ground and now for a lot of us, in pots. So rain is inevitable. I have all my young potted Plumies all around in my flower beds getting good sun here in Central Texas. We have a sprinkler system (which I don't count as a watering, I water at the top of the soil like everyone) so do I need to worry about my inflos getting damaged by the sprinkler water?
