It’s that time of year! While staking my tallest lilies
today, I got thoroughly “pollinated.” I kept telling them, “Hey, guys, step
back, I’m not your type”, but they didn’t listen.

So here’s the best way to remove pollen from your clothes:

RESIST the desire to rub the pollen.

Plus, DO NOT get it wet.

You won’t remove any. Pollen is both sticky when fresh, plus
the grains have tiny hooks in them. Rubbing dry or wet is a sure way to embed them
deeper.

Scotch
tape is the only way to go when pollen gets on your clothes or tablecloth.

Get a piece of
transparent tape and apply the sticky side to the pollen. PRESS, don’t move the
tape from side to side. Press tape straight down
on the stain, then lift. Repeat if necessary. You may have to
blot the stain a few times with fresh pieces of tape but it works like a charm.

The
key is not to disturb the pollen at all before you apply the tape.

If you still have a residue
of stain, then put the clothing out in
the sun. If it isn't sunny then just set the garment aside until you get some
sun. The color should fade within a few hours: if it doesn’t; repeat laying it in
the sun the next day.
