Lindac92, I think you are right. Searching for vintage corn dryer brought up many images that are similar to this, although most have fewer "spikes". Using it for popcorn makes sense. Thank you!

Lindac92, I live in Iowa too, but I didn't grow up here, so that's my excuse for not knowing what it was. ;)

I grew up in new jersey...but am an antiques collector and have stood beside many many hay wagons at farm auctions, bidding on crocks and jars and corn pickers' gloves and old scales.....and corn dryers!
They make a cute decoration in the fall with some of that little strawberry corn stuck on some of the points.

It looks like the roof or gutter spikes that they use to detour the pigeons over roof over hangs or drive through windows. the spikes keep them from nesting and landing or pooping over doors

May look like it....but it's a corn dryer.

Gutter spikes don't have spikes all around and don't have a hook on the end for hanging.

How do you think corn was dried before they started having huge expensive ovens with tumblers burning natural gas to dry corn?
In the "olden days" some barns and sheds had strings of corn dryers hanging on the walls for feed.

I thought you would just stack them in a corn crib.
