Please help with wall decor

Hi Houzers, looking for some advice on wall decor. We are in the middle of kitchen renovation (just to the right of the livingroom), but hoping to get my walls looking a bit more appealing. Any advice is welcome.

    1) you need a larger console under your TV -- should be at least 25% wider than the TV itself, and wider yet is better.

    2) what is to the left of the couch? I wouldn't hang a painting half over nothing like that, but if the entry is there, you might put a little entry table here with a smaller painting over it. the hedghogs could go where the current picture is, as their arrangement is more flexible, and you could put art in that other corner.

    3) table lamp on an end table by the couch instead of the tray.

    4) probably a floor lamp in the corner to the left of the TV, or a smaller table lamp on the furniture piece there, when you excavate it. :)

    5) you could probably put a smaller piece of art over the chair to the right of the TV, but wait until you have the console sorted out. could be a floor lamp instead, or a table lamp if you give that chair a table of some sort...

(p.s.) 45 minutes is a bit quick for a bump. most of us do this on our coffee breaks, which aren't that frequent!

    couple suggestions:

-yes to a larger console if possible

-I kinda like the big painting where it is

-your mirror though nice doesn't reflect anything much, as far as I can see..how about bringing a big plant to go next to that end table, or put an interesting lamp there, so you'll get to see them twice?:)

-can you take the little chest(console/TV wall) some place else? storage problem will hopefully be solved by another bigger console(case goods can be hunted inexpensively on Craigslist etc..if you're not against that route of course)

-I'd go with bolder, deeper throw pillows that pick up some colors from your rug

-it's a nice room, that chair is cool..great potential, allover. I realize I didn't say much about walls..that's because I think, you'll have all the time in the world to figure it out after/if you change other small stuff..if you feel like it of course.

(and of course I'd hunt art. In its various forms. whatever speaks to me. I might do it simultaneously while figuring out other things, or maybe even before..but that's not something I can advice you in advance..like get X for here, and Y for there..No, it's art, not paint by numbers. You get it when you feel the need to get it. Strong need, presumably. (which I often have, luckily with no funds to support my need..))

ah..if you see art that you crazily love and can afford-just get it..lean it for now..put somewhere else..you'll figure it out, eventually

sometimes I figure things out for months..and then decide I like art leaning on the floor..:) or a dresser. or wherever I put it while deciding

(once I put a painting on a sofa while looking for a place to hang it..pity it was a sofa where people have to sit..I'd leave it there because it looked very cool like that..))

I would use something like BM Crisp Khaki or BM Manchester Tan. I
agree with other posters suggestions for your room especially bolder
throw pillows to pick up colors in your beautiful rug.

Great ideas. Thank you! To the left of the couch is the entry door. I was actually considering moving the mirror where the nursing framed art is now. It will reflect some of the hallway leading to the kitchen. Agree that the pillows are not working and that the tv console needs to be larger. Will work on that. Keep the ideas coming guys! Haven't been on houzz in over a year. Had revamped my old apartment with Houzzer help 2 years as well.

BTW, the black console thing is there temporarily, holding some frequebtly used kitchen things. Hoping to get a bigger plant in that corner. Any thoughts?
