if you are going to hang around... plz add your location on your members page.. so it shows up on all your posts ... its not all that important with hosta ... but i can matter in many other plant forums ...

we need a pic of a leaf with a scale ... anything we might recognize .... pen.. lighter ... some peeps use their feet ... but i think that is disgusting .. lol ...

i might think it is lancifolia ... one of the 5 most common H ...

BTW.. if you need or want more of this plant... you probably could easily quarter this clump.. or dig it up.. and divide into single pips ... and have 4 to 100 more plants next year ...

yes I have never divided a hosta plant and this one is quite large and is pushing other plants out and blocking light from the sun for the day lilies next to it. I need to do something about it....not sure, cuz its so pretty at the size it is now.

give us a pic ... a day lily should be at least twice as tall.. so i dont know how this one would block sun ...

and i also wonder your your landscaper planted a full sun day lily next to a shade tolerant hosta ... whats that all about ..???

Ken- We have so many new people posting, and many of them live outside the US. They might want to take a guess, so I'm suggesting that folks use something we ALL can relate to. And the OP didn't have a location in her name when I posted. She fixed that, so all is right with the world. ;-)

4 clues it might NOT be a lancifolia: "a light yellow cast when it was young..."

As I previously noted, lancifolia blooms late; September.

Leaves are broader than lance like lancifolia leaves.

How about Royal Standard?

Could be Honeybells, it is more yellow when young then Royal Standard, I think. Its a fabulous hosta for landscaping and can take some sun. I grow daylilies in part shade, the flowers don't fade that way. They bloom just fine; a little less but just fine.

So what did you decide? And what happened to your repost with photo!
