This is my mystery hosta which I bought last year:

I have to say it was a disappointment - its beautiful looks disappeared with the cool weather and it started to melt away, without even being exposed for more than an hour of direct sunlight a day. This year it looks better and it is certainly growing, but we still have months to go.

I am concerned about some of the new leaves which are coming up in the center of the plant. Is this "collapsed tissue"? What is wrong with it?

Its location this year gets maybe 1-2 hours of admittedly hot afternoon sun. But those are small leaves sheltered on the inside of the plant. Also, neighbouring hostas seem perfectly happy.
