Deer Eating Crocosmia Blooms

last modified: 9 years ago

Deer have eaten most of my Crocosmia 'Lucifer' blooms. :( They didn't touch them the last two years, but their tastes seemed to have changed.

I've never heard of deadheading Crocosmia to help re-bloom, so should I just let them be until it's time to cut the foliage back as usual, or should I prune as if it were autumn, or at least cut the stems of the ones that have had their flowers eaten?

It is July in the PNW, zone 8.

Your thoughts?
