Are there wood floors anywhere on the main level?

If not, I'd recommend a wood-look porcelain tile. Some examples are below, but always buy a sample and see what the tile looks like in the room's lighting.

Thank you. Our house is built into a hill so the upstairs us the mail living area kitchen, bedrooms etc . We have the dark espresso stained wood floors on the the stairs level. We were looking for something different on the first floor.

What styles do you like? What colors are you drawn to?

With your home being built in a hill I think a natural stone would work nicely. I would consider something that looks like brick paver, travertine, or even dark stained saltillo. Not much help I'm afraid. Anything will work if it isn't too trendy. Get what you like. Good luck.
