I was quite distraught after installing Silestome Magenta Energy countertop (I know, I am brave) to see water spots all over near the sink and cloudy spots everywhere..We treated it like a baby's rear end and never used anything harsh or abrasive on it. I n a matter of months it looked horrible. I tried a lots of cleansers and felt devestated after spending my savings on it.

Thank goodness....I tried the baking saoda and water mix....and YES!!! That works...I would say it is 95% better..try this before you try anything else if the issues are similar to what I describe....!

I have a dark gray, almost black Silestone countertop. It is very sleek and glossy. When you used the baking soda and water mixture, did it take away the gloss? I have water marks all over my sink area and I am afraid that using the baking soda will be too abrasive and cause it to look dull.

I really don't think it did. I mixed it to a runny oatmeal consistency and did not rub...then I rinsed it really well. What I woulld not use is a magic eraser. I had tried that in a corner spot and to me that did take some shine away. My silestone is more of a lustre than a high gloss.

Lily...did you try the baking soda?

My feeling was I would trade some of the shine if I could get it all to look even again...I also noticed for some odd reason, now the water spots don't blotch as much...I have been using ammonia free invisible glass to clean the surface.

I have a belgium blue quartz countertop (dull - not glossy). After one month, I have water marks. From my research, I think what happened is when I take glasses etc. out of the dishwasher and rest them on the counter..it leaves a circle. Please help. I am so upset. Thanks.

Marybeth, I have a luster finish quartz countertop in medium grey. When I unload my dishwasher the glasses aren't so hot that I have to put them down quickly. When our quartz was just a few weeks old I put down 2 layers of terrycloth and then the upside down glasses, wanting the last bit of 'dew' to airdry before placing into my new cupboards. I was gone for the weekend and didn't get them put away. When I returned I, too, had white rings! I was devastated! Not only were these glasses not "hot", they were on 2 layers of a thick terry bathtowel! However, in a couple weeks time they just disappeared. We had to hire a new contractor to put in the tile backsplash (original contractor spawned from hell) and I purchased the clear sealant to go over the grout. He said that could go on the countertops, too. After he did that I had fewer problems with marks of any kind. I am enjoying using my new Norwex cleaning and polishing cloths on the quartz as the cleaning cloth doesn't leave much water residue like a regular wet washcloth does, and any remaining wipes up with the polishing cloth.

If the sealant sounds like it might be helpful it is by "Aqua Mix" Rapid Cure Formula Sealer's Choice Gold. 16 oz was about $36 but the tile place told me it will last 15 years. I think the protoge who was applying it may have put it on too thin as there are a couple places I want to go over. Hope that info is helpful.
